Bags, second to diamonds, are every woman’s best friend. There’s just no way that women can live a day without their bags, handbags or purse. A survey showed that 22% of women would splurge on expensive bags if given the chance to buy branded stuff.

Louis Vuitton was the first manufacturer of designer bags and a lot of other manufacturers have jumped into the bandwagon after the LV designer bags became a hit for the high-profile women in the society.

The list below contains some of the most luxurious bag brands, if you are to consider their price tag.

The Mouawad's 1001 Nights Diamond Purse - $3.8 million.


The House of Mouawad in Dubai rolled out the most expensive purse ever made. The bag is adorned with 4,356 colorless diamonds, 105 yellow diamonds and 56 pink ones. Total number of diamonds covering the bag is at 4,500 diamonds. All the diamonds weight 381 karats. It has set the record at Guinness World of Records for being the most expensive handbag in the world. The heart-shaped purse was handcrafted from 18 karat gold and has a gold chain that can be used as a cling. It took 10 craftsmen endlessly worked for this incredible piece of work for four months,

The Hermes Birkin Bag - $1.9 million, created by Japanese designer Ginza Tanaka.



This bag has over 2,000 diamonds and is designed to be versatile because the diamond strap can also be used as a necklace or bracelet if removed from the bag. The bag has an 8 karat pear shaped shimmering diamond that can also be used separately.

Chanel "Diamond Forever" Classic Handbag - $261,000.




Chanel is known for its “Diamond Forever” classic handbag made of alligator skin leather clubbed with 334 stunning diamonds weighing 3.56 karats set in white gold. The shoulder straps are made from 18 karat gold detachable chain.

Lana Marks Cleopatra Bag - $250,000.



The stunning Cleopatra clutch made by Lana Marks is an annual production. Only one bag is made every year. This bag is encrusted with 1,500 dazzling black and white diamonds set on white alligator skin leather. Famous Helen Mirren was seen carrying this stunning clutch at the 2007 Academy Awards.

Louis Vuitton Urban Satchel Bag - $150,000.



This crafty Louis Vuitton bag is created from all sorts of urban junk – tea bags, cigarette packets, candy wrappers, band aid and waste water bottle. There were only 12 pieces made which were booked much before they were released.

Hermes Matte Crocodile Birkin Bag - $120,000.




The well-known fashion brand, Hermes named this bag after British singer and actress Jane Birkin. The bag is made of crocodile skin and boasts of 10 karats of white diamond studded in the clasp of the bag.

Leiber Precious Rose Bag - $92,000.




This handcrafted, rose-shaped bag is encrusted with 1,016 diamonds that weigh 42.56 karats, 800 tourmalines and 1,169 pink sapphires. Only one piece was made which was sold long before it was released.

Hermès Himalaya Matte Crocodile Birkin – $55,000 to $80,000.




This is a special limited edition, one-of-a-kind bag made of a crocodile skin.

This has been a culinary landmark in Phuket for more than twenty years. Fantastic location and exceptional food and wine – this Phuket restaurant serves French and Thai cuisine. A perfect dinner could be a “pan seared duck foie gras poele with chanterelle mushrooms” to go with a sweet Jurancon Famille Castel 2009 French wine; “open ravioli with rock lobster shellfish and morel sauce” served with Chablis Premier Cru Montee de Tonnerre, Domain Droin French wine; “lamb loin with cepes mushrooms” with a red Chateau Ferrande, Graves 2007; and a “crispy almond Napoleon cake with green apple sherbet, with a sweet Muscat de Beaumes de Venise, Domaine des Bernardins, 2005. Four course menu with selected wine at 3,400 Baht.





This is a well-known Italian restaurant by the beach. It has an impressive wine list and delicious Italian dishes on the menu. They serve beef Carpaccio with Truffle, Caprese Revisited, Lamb and Fusilli Bolognese, and a chocolate mousse for dessert. Expect to shell out 2,500 Baht per person without drinks.


La Gritta at Amari Coral Beach Resort Phuket. 



This is an Italian restaurant at Amari Coral Beach Resort in Patong Beach. Menu includes beef carpaccio, clam chowder soup, black ravioli lobster and a risotto with mushrooms, and apple tart for dessert. A selection of gourmet pizzas, handmade pastas, delectable desserts and a good selection of wines are also included.


360 Restaurant at The Pavilions Phuket.< 



The restaurant is Thai contemporary. Food is essentially Thai with some international dishes. Specialties include Tuna Tartar - fresh local tuna with ginger, chili and coriander, with cucumber relish and crisp garlic crostini; Shrimp Martini – shrimp, avocado and tomato salsa in a refreshing blend with crispy wontons; and smoked pork back ribs glazed with 360 BBQ sauce. For dessert, dark chocolate fondue.

The hotel is famous for its restaurant – Mom Tri’s Kitchen. Wine lovers and foodies will savor any in their great selection of 700 wines and 15 wines served by the glass. Two exuberant menus offer delicious Thai and European creations - hot crab soufflé, light and savoury appetisers, tuna carpaccio, Phuket lobster and Angus beef tenderloin. It is expensive but definitely great for special occasions.
